When looking for a replacement door, knowing its warranty is just as important as knowing the other qualities. What exactly is covered? What is the lifetime of the warranty? If something goes wrong, what will the manufacturer do?

If you experience issues with a door you got replaced recently, you want to understand and reference the warranty easily. This way you know exactly what is covered and what to do.

Whether you’re looking to replace your door or notice a problem with a current one, you want to be familiar with the warranty.

Replacing your front door or sliding door takes a chunk of time and money. Because of this, you want to know that the door you choose will have a warranty with a wide range of coverage. You also want to know what is not covered under warranty, so you do not waste time filing an invalid claim.

Southwest Exteriors has been a door replacement contractor in San Antonio for over 30 years. We install ProVia fiberglass and steel doors and back them up with a lifetime installation warranty.

Because we’ve been in the industry for so long, we’re familiar with replacement door warranties. We know what makes up a quality door warranty. This is why we offer replacement doors with high-quality warranties to back them up.

This article will outline what is included in ProVia’s door warranties. We will outline two collections of warranties.

The first grouping of doors is Signet fiberglass, HeritageTM fiberglass, LegacyTM 20-gauge smooth, and woodgrain textured steel doors. The second grouping is for 24-gauge steel doors and VantageTM fiberglass doors.

After reading, you will know the coverage and coverage length for all components of your ProVia door. This way, you will know when you can file a claim and what ProVia will provide.

There are some similarities in the coverage of these two collections of doors, but we will outline them separately for clarity.

What’s included in ProVia’s door warranty for Signet fiberglass, HeritageTM fiberglass, LegacyTM 20-gauge smooth, and woodgrain textured steel doors?

ProVia offers a limited lifetime warranty for these doors as long as you live in your home. They are warranted not to shrink, warp, split, crack, or delaminate for the lifetime in the home it was installed in.

These conditions are warranted as long as the product was installed without alterations. The door slabs must be primed and finished with a high-quality exterior paint or wood stain within 90 days of installation and according to local building codes.

This warranty is transferable. The transfer must be made within 30 days after the transfer of ownership of the product.

Next, we will outline the specific bounds of each component of the doors.

Insulated glass components

Doors with glass units using ComforTechTM Warm Edge Super Spacer Glazing have a lifetime warranty. The coverage protects against glass breakage and seal failure.

Glass units without this glazing are warranted against seal failure and material and workmanship defects for 10 years from the date of installation.

FrameSaver Full Wood Frame and Frame Components

The composite part of this frame is warranted for a lifetime against material and workmanship defects, rotting, decaying, and fungal damage.

Wood parts for FrameSaverⓇ doors, sidelites, and transoms are warranted against the same defects. They must be installed without alterations and under applicable building codes, the exposed wood parts covered with aluminum cladding, and installed under ProVia’s installation instructions.

The warranty is limited to two years for inswinging doors where exposed wood parts are only protected by a high-quality exterior latex paint or wood stain instead of an aluminum cladding system. Outswinging frames are also only covered for two years.

Hardware

The Endura threshold system, bottom sweep, hinges, weatherstripping, astragals, PVC vinyl coated aluminum frame cladding, and sliding patio screens are warranted for five-years against material and workmanship defects.

PermaTechTM and FusionFrame Composite Door Frame

The PermaTechTM and FusionFrame composite frame, brick mold, sidelites, and transoms are warranted against material and workmanship defects, rotting, and decaying for a lifetime.

This coverage applies as long as the door was installed without alterations, within building codes, and installed and caulked under ProVia’s instructions.

For PermaTechTM products, the coverage is applicable as long as a storm door is not installed in the same opening. The exterior frame and brick mold must be painted with an LRV of 57 or higher.

This excludes weathering or discoloring of an unfinished white frame and brick mold, warping or failures of the frame caused by excess heat, movement of the building, or the expansion and contraction of the building.

Steel L-Frame and Frame Components

Steel L-frame and stops, Endura threshold system, bottom sweep, hinges, and weatherstripping are warranted against material and workmanship defects for five years.

Paint, stain, and glaze finishes

Now that you know the exact bounds of what is covered under your ProVia door warranty, what happens if you experience a problem and need to file a claim?

What if I need to file a claim for my ProVia door?

If you experience any issues with your door that are covered under warranty, you can file a claim.

All you need to do is contact the contractor who installed your door or a ProVia contractor. Then, the contractor will inspect the door to determine if the damage is covered.

Your claim must include a copy of the warranty certificate and contract evidence of the purchase of the product.

ProVia will then provide and ship a replacement product or part to the nearest dealer. If the product that needs replacing is no longer available, they can substitute the product with one of equal value.

They do not cover the cost of labor, installation, and transportation of the product.
